Aug 25,2018
“Monstrum,” a Korean creature feature set in the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), has been chosen to compete in this year’s Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain, the movie’s local distributor Kidari Ent said Friday.

Set in 1527 during the reign of King Jungjong, the movie directed by Heo Jong-ho tells the story of the king’s loyal subjects who go after a strange monster endangering the monarch. It is set to open in Korea on Sept. 13.

The 51st edition of Sitges, one of the world’s largest genre film festivals, is set to run from Oct. 5 to 14 in the city of Sitges located 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) southwest of Barcelona. Many Korean films have so far been screened in the festival, including “The Handmaiden” (2016), “The Wailing” (2016), “Train to Busan” (2016) and “The Host” (2006).
