Tooniverse announces ‘Toonistars’

July 04,2019
Children’s TV channel Tooniverse chose seven “Toonistars” to reach out to their adolescent audience, the channel announced at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Producer Park Yong-jin explained the channel’s reasoning for choosing the seven kids as an opportunity to reach their audience in a new way.

“The company quickly came to realize the influence of YouTube creators on young audiences,” Park said. “To satisfy our younger viewers, we picked seven young stars out of 500 applicants who will promote the company as our very own creators.”

The seven children will be featured in a web series titled “My YouTube Diary,” which is scheduled to begin airing in August. The seven children will play the roles of creators-in-training.

The seven Toonistars are made up of six girls and one boy between ages 8 and 13.

Tooniverse is also expected to release a musical version of the hit show “The Haunted House” on July 20.

The company also plans to launch a new animated series titled “Bugsbot Ignition” on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The show is about two species of beetles who have formed a contract with humans to live alongside them in nature. When an unprecedented virus hits their homes, the two clash over how they should resolve the predicament.

“We take the uttermost care [in producing] our animated programs that air at 8 p.m,” said producer Shin Dong-sik.

“That is the golden time for children who’ve come home from private academies and have eaten their dinner.”
