Oct 29,2019
The government issued an air operator certificate (AOC) to Fly Gangwon Monday, paving the way for the low-cost carrier to start operations.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Fly Gangwon will now be eligible to conduct operations.

The AOC is one of the final steps for carriers to begin commercial flights. Its assessing the applicant on 3,805 criteria, including their workforce, facilities and equipment.

The low-cost carrier applied for the certificate in April after receiving its license to conduct flight operations from the government in March along with other low-cost carriers, such as Aero K and Air Premia.

Fly Gangwon plans to start operations as early as next month for flights between Yangyang in Gangwon and Jeju. It currently needs approval from the Transport Ministry for the flight path.

Fly Gangwon introduced its first plane, a Boeing 737-800, to its fleet last month.
