EXID edits lyrics for KBS program

Nov 08,2017
Girl group EXID’s new title track, “DDD,” will air on TV music programs, after a change to the lyrics. On Nov. 1, KBS, one of the major broadcasting companies, rejected “DDD,” saying that the track contains a term that resembles foul language.

Immediately after, the group rephrased that part and asked for a reexamination.

The term in question was “Shh” from the line “Why don’t you ‘Shh’ ma boy,” which KBS said sounds like “shit.” According to Nocut News, the group will not change the lyrics for music streaming sites but will change it for KBS’s “Music Bank.”

EXID made their debut in 2012 with a digital single album, “Holla.”

The group became popular after fans uploaded a video on social media of the singers dancing in the street for the track “Up Down” (2014).

In December 2016, one of the members, Solji was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and the group had to go on without her.
