French photographer Bernard Faucon feels “honored” that global star BTS’s music videos were inspired by his works, the artist said through an official press release on Thursday.

According to the France-based photographer, BTS’s music videos from their album “The Most Beautiful Moment of Life: Young Forever” contained scenes that displayed a high level of similarity to works in his photograph series “Summer Camp” created in the 1970s.

While Faucon claimed that his entertainment agency recognized the resemblance between his works and BTS videos last summer, the agency maintained their position that no such similarity existed.

Faucon’s latest statement on Thursday did not accuse the group of plagiarism but simply requested that “they acknowledge and mention this artistic influence.”

“I consider this probable inspiration from my work as a tribute, and certainly not as plagiarism or copyright infringement,” Faucon said.

“I love BTS, this album is beautiful, I feel honoured to know that 40 years later, my photographs still inspire young artists of today.”

Suga of BTS said on Wednesday during a global press conference that the company is in talks with the artist.

“We will know when the results come out,” he said.

Faucon is scheduled to visit Chengdu, China, on April 27 to attend the opening of a new art museum there, and meet with the Asian press then.
