Former police commissioner faces questions on meddling

Sept 05,2018
The National Police Agency on Tuesday summoned one of its former heads, Cho Hyun-oh, for questioning on allegations that he spearheaded a massive online campaign to support then-President Lee Myung-bak and his policies.

Cho has been ordered to appear for questioning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. He served as commissioner general of the National Police Agency from 2010 to 2012.

Investigators believe Cho abused his power and instructed police officers to sway public opinion in favor of the Lee administration. Officers in the agency’s cyber command allegedly wrote more than 40,000 comments on social media supporting the government.
