Seoul, Ankara to collaborate on eco-industrial parks

Apr 03,2018
Korea and Turkey have agreed to step up collaboration for the development of eco-friendly industrial parks to recycle wastes and improve energy efficiency, Seoul’s Energy Ministry said Monday.

Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Turkey’s Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding on the renewable energy projects in a ceremony held at the Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul.

Eco-industrial parks involve exchanges between firms of their excess energy and materials to help raise efficiency and reduce pollutants. Wastes from one firm become the raw material for another via processing facilities.

Korea has applied an eco-industrial park program to reduce, reuse and recycle wastes and materials in industrial complexes since 2005.

The Seoul government said it will expand support for Korean companies’ bids to participate in Turkish projects to apply their expertise in developing eco-industrial parks.
