Jeju Air to launch domestic cargo service on Sept. 17

Sept 04,2018
Budget airline Jeju Air will launch a domestic cargo business from Sept. 17, the airline said Monday.

The airline will start carrying cargo between Jeju and Gimpo. The plane will carry up to 15 tons per day, with a freight rate set at roughly 80 percent of that of existing air carriers.

Once business on the new route stabilizes, it will expand to routes connecting Jeju with Busan and Gwangju.

While the airline started carrying cargo on international routes from 2012, it has been delaying its entry into the domestic cargo business as it was difficult to secure cargo terminals at local airports.
