Doosan is showing its technology off in Vegas

Dec 20,2019
Doosan Group will bring its latest technologies to next month’s CES trade show in Las Vegas for the first time.

Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won will make an appearance at the convention, although he will make no pitch for new products.

Still, the lineups by two affiliates - Doosan Infracore and Doosan Mobility Innovation - will demonstrate the company’s use of unconventional technologies in new areas.

For instance, Doosan Infracore’s Concept-X is a way to manage construction sites using drones and autonomous excavators.

The system works with drones capable of carrying out 3-D scanning of a work area. Based on the topographical data sent from the drones, construction equipment such as excavators and wheel loaders can be operated without human intervention.

Another technology is a hydrogen fuel-cell drone developed by Doosan Mobility Innovation. The drone can fly for more than two hours, according to Doosan. The hydrogen fuel cell allows for longer flights than by conventional lithium battery-powered drones, which typically fly for 20 to 30 minutes.

Doosan is scheduled to announce its plan to market the hydrogen fuel-powered drone in the U.S. market at the CES trade show.

The company revealed its fuel cell-powered drone for the first time at a U.S. drone trade show in September 2018 - and showcased the technology at the 2019 Drone Show Korea in January.

Doosan Bobcat, a compact construction equipment maker, will demonstrate an application that can control operations of a loader and eyeglasses that use augmented reality to show progress at a construction site.
