Doosan pitcher gets reward bigger than annual paycheck

Nov 29,2018
The KBO announced on Tuesday that it will be award 50 million won ($44,353) to Doosan Bears’ pitcher Lee Young-ha for reporting an attempt at match fixing in June.

The right handed pitcher reported to his club that he received calls from a broker twice - in April and May - suggesting a deal to fix games. The Bears eventually asked the KBO to investigate the case.

The KBO’s reward of 50 million won is more than Lee’s annual income with the Bears, which is 42 million won.

Lee said on Wednesday that he will donate all of his reward money.

In addition to Lee, Oh Hyoun-taek of the Lotte Giants will receive 5 million won for helping the police in a hit-and-run and Kim Kwang-hyun of the SK Wyverns will receive 5 million won as the winner of this year’s KBO Fair Play Award.
