[VIDEO NEWS] A queen red fire ant found at the Port of Incheon.

July 09,2018
1) The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that it found a queen ant, 16 larvae and 6,100 worker red fire ants at the Port of Incheon.

2) Last September, red fire ants were first found in Gamman Pier at the Port of Busan. This year, they were found in Incheon, Busan and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, in February, May and June, respectively.

3) The fact that a queen ant and larvae were both found means that red fire ants have, at least once, bred in our country.

4) An officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said that whether they have bred for a second time or not is the most urgent issue. Fortunately, princess ants and male ants necessary for breeding haven’t been found together.

5) Red fire ants are venomous, and their bites can bring about severe itchiness and pain.

6) In severe cases, one can experience dizziness, respiratory malfunction and anaphylactic shock.
